Algunas ideas fuerza en la obra de William Ospina

Edward Gabriel Acuña Quintana, University of Nebraska - Lincoln

Abstract

The ontology of literature, from a materialist perspective, recognizes the inseparable nature of literary materials: author, text, transducer, and reader (Maestro, Los materiales 115), which breaks the traditional scheme of some epistemologies of literature, the literary criticism that is based on the opposition between subject and object. In its place, this theoretical approach that allows the explanation of these materials always faced to other interpretive architectures of an exclusively monistic nature, emerges from the conjugation between matter and form, which implies evidencing a plural, objective, and systematic conceptual base to argue the critique. Given this scheme, we proceed to determine the epistemological character of the literary work proposed by the Colombian author William Ospina, evidencing the modes of knowledge that prevail in the framework of objectified ideas configured through artistic materials and their respective modulations of categorical truth. From the coordinates of Philosophical Materialism different types of literature are distinguished and according to this categorization is how we can identify the nature of Ospina's artistic proposal based, mainly, on a cultural historical interpretation, always subject to ideologies developed from philosophical trends in opposition to the Hispanic tradition and unable, given their gnoseological weakness, to reconstruct the local or regional historical reality. The syntagma ideas fuerza refers, from a materialist perspective, to forms of fundamentalism that are reconstructed in different social environments with the aim of supplanting academic philosophy, echoing the supposed popular sovereignty that founds the possibility that each person has their own thought, valid for the mere fact of arising or realizing. In the case of the literary work of William Ospina, the ideas of identity, intellectual, historical memory, culture, and nature are presented as argumentative axes, for us conformed in a try to set an understanding scheme for different problems that characterize the social, political, economic situation currently valid in Colombia and other neighboring countries.
