Breaking into the backcountry
Abstract
BREAKING INTO THE BACKCOUNTRY is the nonfiction story of the seven months, in 2001, that I spent in “unparalleled solitude” as the resident caretaker of Dutch Henry Homestead, a 95-acre backcountry ranch. The book explores themes of solitude, wilderness, and how those things transformed me.
