Pupil Development in a Rapid Learner Program

GERALD ELMER GAGE, University of Nebraska - Lincoln

Abstract

Educators have expressed considerable concern with the problem of providing optimum educational opportunities for all students regardless of aptitude. In recent years there have been numerous claims and counterclaims favoring various methods of achieving this goal, particularly in reference to education of those who are considered "gifted." The effect of individual differences upon learning achievement and the teaching methods which will best implement learning are current and continuing educational and psychological problems. Because of the many considerations involved, of particular current interest is the question of segregation of exceptional children, whether partial or complete. It is to an investigation of the effects of partial segregation upon pupil development that this study is devoted.
