INTEGRATION OF ECONOMIC CONCEPTS IN BEGINNING BOOKKEEPING CLASSES

BOBBIE BURNETT GRIFFITH, University of Nebraska - Lincoln

Abstract

A well-planned educational program develops in youth an understanding of the environment in which he lives. One segment of any society, no matter how simple it may be, is of an economic nature. In the United States and the world today, the economy has become increasingly complex. In a democracy such as ours, however, it is desirable that all citizens acquire a basic understanding of the economy in which the live, a capacity to make reasoned judgments about economic problems, and the ability to make wise decisions in the market place.
