PROBLEMS AND TRENDS IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL SOCIAL STUDIES

GEORGE WARD BAILEY, University of Nebraska - Lincoln

Abstract

The junior high schools in Nebraska are no exception to this general pattern. Here, too, there seems to be a lack of agreement in certain areas of the curriculum. More research is needed to determine what should be taught as well as where and when it should be taught. Educators must constantly work toward areas of agreement in the curriculum and nowhere does there seem to be greater need for this than in the field of junior high school social studies.
