Factors That Influence Achievement in Senior High School American History

GEORGE WAYNE GLIDDEN, University of Nebraska - Lincoln

Abstract

The advancing frontiers of the contemporary world present both a challenge and an opportunity to mankind* Never before in history has nan been so near to the fulfillment of his notarial needs. But it is also true that this is an era of exceedingly difficult problems and issues vhich must be resolved if the promise of the future is to be fully realized. The realization of the potential of the present and the future is closely dependent upon the quality of education provided for each individual. This is especially true in the United States, in vhich the responsibilities of the individual in a culture affected by dynamic change call for citizens educated to function at their naxinuw effectiveness. The educational program, therefore, must be constantly evaluated in terms of the degree to vhich it provides the skills and abilities needed by individuals not only to meet the present demands of society but also to be able to adjust to the uncertain requirements of the future.
