AN INTERVIEW PROCESS FOR SELECTING ACTIVATING VOCATIONAL TECHNICAL INSTRUCTORS

ALBERT WALTER WINSEMAN, University of Nebraska - Lincoln

Abstract

Vocational technical education has been of increasing interest and concern on both the state and national levels. The recent activities of the United States Congress and the Legislature of the State of Nebraska, are evidence of both concern and interest. National concern and interest is evident in the Vocational Education Amendments of 1968, Public Law 90-576, which authorizes federal appropriations in excess of $3,000,000,000 in grants to the states for vocational education for the fiscal years 1969 through 1972, and $465,000,000 each year thereafter. At the state level, the authorization and support of the organization of multi-county units within Nebraska to establish Area Vocational Technical Schools in addition to the three state supported schools at Milford, Sidney, and Curtis, is further evidence of this interest and concern. Also of increasing concern and interest has been the selection of teachers who can motivate and teach students effectively.
