THE IDENTIFICATION OF EXTERNAL PRESSURES CONSIDERED BY PRESIDENTS OF SELECTED STATE SUPPORTED INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION DURING THE DECISION-MAKING PROCESS

JAMES WADE STEWART, University of Nebraska - Lincoln

Abstract

The demands and the pressures on the public university and particularly the office of the president have grown and expanded in recent years. These demands and pressures have generated a need for understanding and identification if the processes of administration and their accompanying responsibility are to be solved. If these problems are merely compounded and do not become open to investigation, their isolation will further foster confusion and disorganization in the institutional setting.
