JACQUELYN MARIE MILLER, University of Nebraska - Lincoln

Abstract

"Teachers are alone among professional people in the volume of nonprofessional work they are required to do," cited Gaylord Nelson, U. S. Senator from Wisconsin, when introducing the Teacher Aid Program Support Act of 1967.3, In order to release the teacher from nonprofessional duties to perform the role he has been trained to do, the utilization of the paraprofessional has become a valuable tool in reemphasizing the professional ability of the teacher.
