PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF SHARPSBURG SOIL CROPPED TO CORN AFTER SIX YEARS OF FERTILIZER APPLICATION AND IRRIGATION.
Abstract
The major practice which has increased crop production in the U.S.A. is by adding fertilizers to soil. In North America, the total nitrogen fertilizers applied in 1955 and 1975 were 1.83 x 10^ and £ 9.87 x 10 metric tons, respectively (Edwin et al. 1971). The total amount of nitrogen used in Nebraska was 1.03 x 10^ and 4.99 x 10"* metric tons for 1945 and 1970, respectively (T.V.A., 1972).
