Search for antiproton decay to muonic final states at the Fermilab Antiproton Accumulator
Abstract
Fermilab Experiment 868 (E868) is designed to search for antiproton decay at the Fermilab Antiproton Accumulator. The E868 detector is sensitive to decay modes which contain a final state electron, and decay modes which contain a final state muon. Limits are placed on six antiproton decay modes which contain a final-state muon. At the 90% C.L. we find that $\tau\sb{\bar p}/B(\bar p\to\mu\sp-\gamma)>5.0\times10\sp4\ {\rm yr},\ \tau\sb{\bar p}/B(\bar p\to\mu\sp-\pi\sp0)>4.8\times10\sp4\ {\rm yr},\ \tau\sb{\bar p}/B(\bar p\to\mu\sp-\eta)>7.9\times10\sp3\ {\rm yr},\ \tau\sb{\bar p}/B(\bar p\to\mu\sp-\gamma\gamma)>2.3\times10\sp4\ {\rm yr},\ \tau\sb{\bar p}/B(\bar p\to\mu\sp-K\sbsp{S}{0})>4.3\times10\sp3$ yr, and $\tau\sb{\bar p}/B(\bar p\to\mu\sp-K\sbsp{L}{0})>6.5\times10\sp3$ yr.
