Abstract
Other Names For What We Call It is a collection of poetry that attempts to address the minutia of living in a material culture that accumulate to form the details of an individual’s life. Beginning with “Cultural Artifacts”, a reflective poem about the clutter collected absentmindedly during the course of a year, the collection moves through meditative poems about material possessions to the people from which they come, outward to poems reflecting on the relationship between individuals and their possessions to persona poems of progressively larger scope and direction.
