Abstract
This project is the fourth iteration of the Nebraska Department of Transportation’s “Nebraska Transportation Information Portal.” It was completed by a team of five undergraduate developers working for the University of Nebraska – Lincoln’s Design Studio Course, over both the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters.
This project added several points of value that had been requested by the Nebraska Department of Transportation, the largest of them being transitioning the database to the Model Minimum Uniform Crash Criteria 5th Edition (MMUCC5) Schema, creating a heatmap displaying the crash density on Nebraska’s roads, and creating a web analytics dashboard to be able to view data about searches executed on the crash portal.
The project was written in Visual Studio, using mainly C# and SQL for the backend, Javascript for the frontend control, and Html and CSS for the frontend design.
