Abstract
Eakes Office Solutions is a Nebraska based office products dealer that serves most of Nebraska and parts of many of the surrounding states. Founded in 1945 by Howard Eakes, the company now has over 250 employees based in thirteen locations across Nebraska. This paper will analyze the external environment of the office products industry for each of Eakes’ five divisions of office products using PESTEL and Porter’s Five Forces analyses. Eakes strategy is one of slow consistent growth and development of a strong workforce. Its approach to customer service is at the heart of the company’s capabilities and gives it a competitive advantage. The organizational capacity to provide timely, outstanding response to customers’ needs position it for future competitiveness.
