Abstract

The past three years, I have worked with Baba Yussif and Dr. Checco on a project that investigates whether endogenous isomerization of a single residue in a peptide could lead to selective activation of receptors within Aplysia californica. Throughout this project, I have developed skills that have allowed me to work proficiently in a research laboratory. Of these skills, the most notable ones include peptide synthesis, purification through reverse phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), mass spectrometry (MS) through matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI MS), working with cell cultures, and the process of publication in general.
