Abstract

Personalized medicine has become ubiquitous throughout modern medicine. However, we argue that having a standardized treatment plan assists in healthcare team communication and cohesion. A generalized treatment outline and plan assists patients in a variety of ways including stress management, occupational planning, and scheduling expectations. With this in mind, a treatment plan was put together for the recovery of an Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair. Ideas were researched and compiled with assistance from the healthcare team at MD West One Orthopaedics. The topics and area of focus included activities of daily living, medication guidelines, exercises, and healing expectations or goals. Each topic was outlined and formatted in a chart for patients to take home with them and guide them throughout recovery. Supplemental handout were created to further explain certain ideas and exercises implemented in the treatment plan. Appropriate pamphlets are to be distributed to the patient as they progress to each specific stage in the recovery process. The treatment plan draft is currently in the process of being tested and adjusted in response to clinical setting results. All misunderstandings, patient opinions, and success rates will be taken into consideration to improve this primary stage project.
