Pillai, I. Ferrari N.V. Capstone Strategic Report. Undergraduate Honors Thesis. University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Abstract
This report explores the strategic position of Ferrari through Porter’s Five Forces, PESTEL, VRIO Analysis, Value Chain, and SWOT analysis. Then the report offers recommendations to the main tensions and strategic dilemmas before finally making remarks on the risks and limitations of this report. This report remarks on the strong strategic position of Ferrari due to branding, and its strong performance in Formula 1 racing and overall product specifications. It also remarks on Ferrari’s exposure to political, economic, and legal risk related to sustainability, supply chain stability, and exchange rate risk. This report recommends that Ferrari continues investing in electric vehicle (EV) technology including creating a product line of flagships EV vehicles as well as continuing investment into supply chain stability. The main risks and tradeoffs of these recommendations are a lack of investment into combustible engines, traditionally a main income generator, and branding risk if the feel of EVs are not comparable to typical Ferrari cars. Finally, this report remarks on the limitations of the frameworks used and data analysis. Including the potential bias in financial data from Ferrari and lack of futuristic analysis present in the frameworks.
