Abstract

Resumen. Se registra por primera vez el ácaro rojo de las palmas, Raoiella indica Hirst (Acari: Tenuipalpidae), en Guatemala. Este ácaro invasivo se encontró en los departamentos de Petén e Izabal infestando palma de coco (Cocos nucifera), palma de Navidad (Adonidia merrillii) y palmera robeleni (Phoenix roebelenii).

Abstract. The red palm mite, Raoiella indica Hirst (Acari: Tenuipalpidae), is recorded for the first time in Guate­mala. This invasive mite was found in the departments of Petén and Izabal infesting coconut palm (Cocos nucifera Linnaeus), Christmas palm (Adonidia merrillii (Becc.)) and pygmy date palm (Phoenix roebelenii O’Brien).
