Abstract

This paper updates the knowledge about the occurrence of armored scale insects on the olive tree, Olea europaea Linnaeus (Oleaceae), in Brazil. Aonidiella aurantii (Maskell), Hemiberlesia cyanophylli (Signoret), Hemiberlesia lataniae (Signoret) and Pinnaspis strachani (Cooley) are newly recorded on olive trees in Brazil. Melanaspis obscura (Comstock) is reported for the first time on O. europaea in the world and a new synonym is proposed: Melanaspis jaboticabae (Hempel) = Melanaspis obscura (Comstock).
