Abstract

ABSTRACT

The aim of the study is to assess the types of user education programmes available in universities in Nasarawa state, the study was aim at knowing how user education programmes has help undergraduates in assessing library resources the universities the study was guided by two objections,the types of user education programmes available in the universities in Nasarawa state and the library resources and services available for utilization . Methodology,This chapter presents the procedure that was followed in carrying out the study. The procedures were: Research Design was survey research design, The Study Area is Nasarawa state, Population of the Study 3522 respondents, Sample and sampling Technique 359, Instrument for Data questionnaire title (ATUPUNS) Collection, Data Analysis Technique was done using SPSS mean and t-test.Findings of the Study, The following findings emerged from the study based on the research questions answered and hypothesis tested. It was found from the study that there are five (5) types of user education programmes used in training students in universities in Nasarawa State.

The study also revealed that there are five (5) resources and five (5) services for supporting education programmes in Universities in Nasarawa State. Recommendations Based on the findings of this study, the following recommendations were made: User education programmes should be fully incorporated into the curriculum of universities.Adequate fund should be provided to enable user educators (academic librarians) acquire the necessary equipment for teaching user education.
