Abstract
The ability to read is one determiner of students' success or failure. The skill acquired in reading can promote the acquisition of language skills like listening, speaking, and writing. Some primary school pupils find it difficult to read and understand despite the fact that reading is indispensable. A questionnaire was administered to teachers of English language in five primary schools in the Ibadan northeast local government of Oyo state. The results show strong views on the role of teachers, parents, and government in the important matter of reading comprehension and literacy among primary school pupils.
