Abstract

Say the word “genealogy” in an academic library, and you are bound to see weary librarians and archivists roll their eyes and sigh. But academic librarians can do more than accepting genealogists as a frustrating fact of life: they can recognize a perfect opportunity to teach primary source literacy concepts to a group that is more than open to learning them.
