Abstract

The present study primarily set out to highlight the researchers’ awareness and significance of prevailing referencing styles and Referencing Management Tools (RMTs) in Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. The study used a survey method for the collection of data and a total of 240 well-constructed questionnaires were distributed to the researchers. In response, a sum of 149 questionnaires was retrieved from the researchers, constituting a 62.08% response rate. The major findings of the study communicated that majority of researchers were found to be aware of referencing styles and made significant use of available styles. Moreover, with regard to referencing management tools, they were found to have little awareness and very few researchers have used readymade referencing tools. Furthermore, they also expressed a need for training on the usage of these sources and sought positive support from the library.
