Abstract

Open educational resources are freely accessible materials for research, teaching and learning available on public domains at no-cost to readers, students and teachers and are published under open licenses. This study investigated the extent of use of open educational resources for research by postgraduate history students in selected federal universities in Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive survey design to study a purposive sample of 135 postgraduate history students. A questionnaire was used for data collection. The statistical analysis was done using independent sample t-test at 0.05 level of significance. The finding of this study showed that there is adequate use of open educational resources for research among postgraduate history students. Furthermore, there was no significant difference in the use of open educational resources for research between male and female postgraduate history students. It was recommended that there should be workshops to strengthen postgraduate history students’ ability in the use of open educational resources for research.
