Nowadays, in the arena of online learning environment, a new concept of MOOC has been penetrated as a prevalent medium of learning. The present study explains the term Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) where the main objectives of the study include awareness level, the purpose of joining MOOC, problems faced by users while using MOOC, and whether open learning is helping users in giving a positive learning experience in a virtual learning environment. To fulfill these objectives, a survey method was adopted, and a structured questionnaire was used to collect data. It was inferred from the study that 65% of the respondents were aware of a MOOC course and the most widely used platform was SWAYAM. 86% of the respondents agreed that learning takes place better in physical classrooms whereas, most of the participants agreed that not everyone is technology-friendly, and it was also observed that the unavailability of a laptop/computer created a problem while pursuing the course.
