Abstract
The study evaluates the quality of services received by the Central Library of Birjand University among users based on LibQual components. The present study is descriptive. Data were collected using the LibQual questionnaire, and its reliability is obtained using Cronbach's alpha test. The statistical population included all users of the Central Library of Birjand University which 150 users were selected by non-proportional stratified sampling. The results of the study showed that the quality of services received in general and in the three components of effect of service, information control, and the library as place, were above average. There was no significant difference between the three components of LibQual and the average of services received in general based on the type of users. The average of services received in general and in all three components of LibQual was significantly above average among different groups of users. Evaluation of service quality by users is able to convey the correct idea of the facts in the central library to the library managers and staff. So far, no research has been conducted to evaluate the quality of services received using the LibQual instrument at Birjand University.
