Abstract
In the digital age, the role of libraries in facilitating research visibility has undergone a significant transformation, propelled by the pervasive influence of social media platforms. This abstract explores the evolving relationship between social media and the amplification of research visibility through the lens of libraries. Academic libraries, traditionally known as repositories of knowledge, have adapted their functions to harness the potential of social media as a conduit for disseminating scholarly content to broader audiences. Libraries have strategically utilized social media platforms to enhance the discoverability and accessibility of research materials. By embracing platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and academic networking sites like ResearchGate and Academia.edu, libraries have expanded their outreach, engaging with diverse user groups including researchers, students, and the general public. Through effective utilization of these platforms, libraries have fostered greater visibility for scholarly works, facilitating increased collaboration, and dialogue among scholars across disciplines.
This evolution also poses challenges. Libraries must navigate the dynamic landscape of social media, addressing issues of information credibility, information overload, and platform-specific strategies to optimize research visibility. Moreover, there is a growing need for libraries to curate and authenticate information to ensure its reliability amidst the abundance of digital content. This abstract reviews literature discussing the strategies, challenges, and impact of social media utilization by libraries to enhance research visibility. It underscores the pivotal role libraries play as mediators between researchers and wider audiences in the digital ecosystem. As technology continues to evolve, libraries are poised to continue innovating and adapting their roles, ensuring that scholarly content reaches, engages, and impacts diverse audiences through the dynamic realm of social media.
