Abstract

The study analyzed the progression of total quality management practices (TQMPs) in academic libraries, which serve as the central hub of organizational culture (OC) in Ghana. The study focused on selected technical university libraries in Ghana. The study reviewed relevant literature on total quality management practices, advancement, and the role of organizational culture. The objectives guided the design of the research protocol, which included a questionnaire. At technical universities in Ghana, the population consisted of librarians and library staff. The sample size was 60 respondents. The response rate was 91.66%, which was valid for analysis. The correlation analysis established that organizational culture had a significant positive relationship with total quality management practice advancement (r = 0.759, p > 0.05). This confirms that organizational culture is relevant to the advancement of TQMPs in academic libraries. The study focused solely on organizational culture as a crucial element in the execution of TQMPs in Ghanaian academic libraries. The study demonstrated that organizational culture plays a crucial role in advancing TQMPs and achieving high-quality performance in academic libraries in Ghana. Academic libraries in Ghana now have a new source of documented information about TQM practices. This contribution enriches the existing literature on critical success factors of TQMPs.
