Abstract
Este estudio concierne la inefabilidad en San Juan de la Cruz, cuyos textos brindan una dimensión, privativa, 'apofática' así como una positiva, 'teofática'. El fontivereño destaca que la experiencia mística -no obstante ser rayo dionisíaco de fruición en la tiniebla, un paradójico «subir bajando»- se desborda en una singular expresión bivalente, ya en prosa, ya en verso lírico. A fin de ilustrar en algún grado su sutil y profunda realización de órdenes analógicos de aprehensiones que atañen a la unidad sustancial del alma y cuerpo así como al alma misma, nos incumbe meditar con esmero sobre sus explicaciones precisas y utilización de términos. Sólo por medio de 'engager' plenamente la gama de consideraciones que presentan sus textos, es factible apreciar la coherencia enfática, profundidad y horizonte de comprehensión que el Místico Doctor elucida concerniente a la cognición ordinaria y mística y las comunicaciones que pertenecen a ambas.
This study concerns ineffability in St. John of the Cross, whose texts offer an 'apophatic' as well as a 'theophatic' dimension. The friar from Fontiveros highlights that mystical experience --not withstanding being a Dionysian ray of fruition in the darkness, a paradoxical «ascending and descending»-- overflows into a unique bi-valent expression, both in prose and in lyrical verse. To portray to some degree his subtle and profound establishment of analogous orders of apprehensions that pertain to both the substantial unity of soul and body as well as the soul itself, one must carefully meditate upon his refined expositions and utilization of terms. Only by engaging fully the range of considerations that he makes within his texts may one begin to appreciate the marked coherence, depth, and horizon of comprehension that the Mystical Doctor elucidates concerning ordinary and mystical cognition and communications that pertain to both.
