Abstract

Al igual que en Jornadas anteriores presenté signos comunes en los textiles, mi interés sigue siendo buscar paralelismos y/o significados parecidos o iguales entre las dos principales zonas culturales de América precolombina: Mesoamérica y la Zona Andina, ya que creo firmemente que hubo contactos entre ellas. En esta ocasión trataré el tema de las equivalencias en las indumentarias, que creo necesitará igualmente diferenciarlas fuentes de información, como hice en anteriores ocasiones. En Mesoamérica, es preceptiva la consulta de las fuentes escritas; y en este caso las dibujadas, pues serán las principales. Además, recurriremos al estudio de las figurillas de arcilla y de las pinturas murales, entre otros materiales que se encuentran en la gran mayoría de las culturas de esta zona. Respecto a la Zona Andina, nos ayudarán al conocimiento de la indumentaria las fuentes escritas, inexistentes en época precolombina, pero no en la colonial. En este caso dispondremos de menos material procedente de contextos arqueológicos, por lo que deberemos estudiar las cerámicas escultóricas, que son las que más informaciónnos darán.

As well as in previous conferences I presented common signs in textiles, my interest keeps looking for parallels and/or similar or equal meanings between the two main cultural zones of pre-Columbian America: Mesoamerica and the Andean Zone, since I firmly believe that there were contacts between them. In this occasion I will deal with the subject of equivalences in the costumes, which I believe will also need to make the difference of sources of information, as I did in previous occasions. In Mesoamerica, the consultation of the written sources is mandatory—and in this case the drawn ones, as they will be the main ones. In addition, we will have recourse to the study of clay figurines and mural paintings, among other materials found in most of the cultures of this area. Regarding the Andean Zone, the written sources—nonexistent in pre-Columbian times, but present in the Colonial one—will help us in the knowledge of this clothing. In this case lesser materials are available from archaeological contexts, so in this zone we will have to study the sculptural ceramics, which are the ones that will provide us with more information.
