First Observation of the Cabibbo Suppressed Decay B⁺ → D̅⁰K⁺

Abstract

We have observed the decay B⁺ → D̅⁰K⁺, using 3.3 X 10⁶ BB̅ pairs collected with the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. We find the ratio of branching fractions R ≡ Ɓ(B⁺ → D̅⁰K⁺)/Ɓ(B⁺ →D̅⁰π⁺) = 0.055 ± 0.014 ± 0.005.
