ABSTRACT:
This presentation will focus on using full-length films to address diversity awareness, sensitivity and skill development in the classroom or the board room. Educators and trainers recognize the value of using feature film clips and guided discussions as an instructional aid in management training and collfge classes to illustrate key management concepts (Champou.x, 2001; Marx, Jick & Frost, 1992) however, the use of full length feature films as a tool for teaching diversity and organizational change concepts has been largely overlooked. Select full-length feature films provide a context within which multiple concepts, issues and emotions associated with diversity can be explored.. A guided discussion led by experienced facilitators will be conducted to illustrate how each of these ful/\l- length feature films may be used as a part of diversity training.
