ABSTRACT:
This presentation describes a unique and very successful partnership between the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and two Historically Black Colleges and Universities in South Carolina (Claflin University and South Carolina State University). Over the past several years, graduates of Claflin and SCSU have attended UW-La Crosse and completed master's degrees in programs such as sport management and exercise science. Some of these students have progressed on to complete doctoral degrees, and are now faculty members in higher education. Practical details regarding the development, implementation, and evaluation of the partnerships will be presented. Examples of the mentoring process and challenges will be discussed.
