On December 9, 1919, students representatives from four Animal Husbandry Clubs met in Chicago and formed the National Block & Bridle Club. These charter chapters were Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. During this meeting, the chapters formed a constitution which included the following statement of the club's objectives:
• To promote a higher scholastic standard among the students of Animal Science.
• To promote Animal Science especially in all phases of student Animal Science work in college and universities exclusively for educational purposes.
• To bring about a closer relationship among men and women pursuing some phase of Animal Science as a profession.
