Abstract

The present study was designed to measure self- and cross-fertility in a white-flowered clone, Purdue W-4, and derived inbred clones under field and greenhouse conditions; and to find, if possible, agronomically desirable self-sterile or self-incompatible, cross-fertile clones. These could be of potential value for the production of hybrid alfalfa and for basic studies.
