Abstract
The objective of this experiment was to study the effects of soil compaction at different levels at different soil moisture contents of soil on the growth of roots and tops of corn “WF9 x Hy” (Zea Mays L.) and soybeans (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) under controlled laboratory condition. Root measurements indicated that high compaction was less favorable for growth in soils of low clay content than was the soil of high clay content. The results of this study indicated that further work is needed on the effects of soil compaction with more reference to soil texture, oxygen content, and air diffusion.
