Abstract

This thesis focuses on the inclusion and teaching of Number Theory in the curricula of elementary and secondary schools. The curricula includes place value systems, the greatest common factor, least common multiple, division algorithm, prime numbers, prime factorization, divisibility tests, functions, clock arithmetic, congruences, perfect numbers, casting out nines, repeating decimals, the rational root theorem, and Diophantine equations.This study is an analysis of math education, specifically Number Theory, taught in pre-school and beyond.
