Abstract

A prolific Irish Catholic family, only two generations old in America, is ruled by a stern patriarch who dedicates his sizable fortune (earned through a traffic of questionable ethics) to furthering his dynastic ambitions for a son who subsequently becomes a United States Senator from a state that begins with the letter "M" .... If you thought you knew where this was going, think again. The father/son team in question is Charles Carroll of Annapolis and Charles Carroll of Carrollton, who-to adopt only one of the several useful editorial devices utilized in Dear Papa, Dear Charleywill be referred to hereafter as CCA and CCC, respectively.
