Abstract

There are over 617,000 bridges in the United States. At a minimum, every one of these bridges must be inspected at least once every two years according to the Federal Highway Association. Unfortunately, these inspections are costly, time intensive, and dangerous. By using an autonomous, GPS-denied drone, the bridge inspection process could see improved efficiency and safety.
