Abstract
Founded in 1878 as Southwest Baptist College in Lebanon, Missouri, Southwest Baptist University (SBU) is now located in Bolivar, Missouri. SBU is a private, faith-based liberal arts university whose academic offerings include eighty-one majors, forty-four minors, four master’s degree programs, one graduate certificate program, and three doctoral programs. In fall 2024, SBU had 2,101 undergraduates enrolled across four campuses and 608 graduate students. Minority students comprise 16% of the student population, and 65% of enrolled students are female. Thirty percent of the students live in residence halls; 73% of the students are Missouri residents. The faculty-to-student ratio at SBU is 12:1.
