Abstract
The book The True Diary of a Part Time Indian is about a Native American kid Arnold Spirit Jr, who lives on the reservation in poverty and has a bad home life. He wants to get out of the reservation and do better for himself, so he goes to an all-white school and leaves his family and friends behind. While he is at his new school, he is trying to find his identity.
• Junior struggles with finding his identity as many Native American students do. • Native American students sometimes face poverty, and this can make it hard to with move to an all-white school • He learns the value of family and friendship that is important to the Native communities.
