Abstract

This report is an aid to the identification of the strigeoid metacercaria found in the fishes of the world. It includes It condensed record of the known life cycles of those strigeoids that have fish as their second intermediate host.. The parasites are placed in four metacercarial groups of strigeoids (Tetracotyle, Diplostomulum, Neaseus and Prohemistomulum). rather than grouped in the usual taxonomic fashion. The synopsis is world-wide although key's are given only for the species of Tetracotyle, DipIostomulm, and Neascus of North America. Representatives of the different genera are figured and drawings are included of all available illustrations of strigeoid metacercariae of fishes.
