Abstract
In my annual address to the Nebraska State Bar Association in October 1969, I suggested that much had been accomplished by the organized bar to secure the continued service of competent judges and the removal of incompetent judges and that little or no progress had been made in the area of removing the unfit lawyer. This problem impinges upon disciplinary procedures and the effect of the new Code of Professional Responsibility, which outlines the modern concept of the obligation of a lawyer to discharge his professional duties.
