Abstract

The 1975 Oliver Wendell Holmes Devise Lectures were delivered by Professor Hans A. Linde at the University of Nebraska College of Law on September 30 and October 1, 1975. The lecture series, initiated in 1960, is funded by the estate which the late Associate Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., bequeathed to the United States. Professor Linde advances the thesis that the role of the due process clause in lawmaking is to insure procedural safeguards in the enactment of laws and not to restrict the means and ends of policy constitutionally available to legislators.
