Abstract

An overview of the relics of cestode (tapeworm) order “Tetraphyllidea” van Beneden, 1850, parasites found in the spiral intestine and occasionally the stomach of species from all orders of elasmobranch fishes. Includes a discussion of their main morphological characteristics, a description and summary of a representative species, Duplicibothrium cairae Ruhnke et al., 2000, taxonomy, and life cycle.
